Have an "OH NO" plan

We use the cameras on smart phones for all sorts of things. This is a good way for you to create a property record by photographing (or videoing) your house and property. It is a good idea to copy the files and store the files safely (in the cloud or a safety deposit box are examples). Don't forget to include any jewelry, artwork, appraisals, and other items of value.

Keep insurance policies and appraisals up to date.

Do you know where the house water shut-off valve is located? The closest fire hydrant (especially in the winter where snow may cover any trace of it)? Smoke detectors with 10 year batteries are now available. It may be a good time to change up to these improved models.

Do you have an emergency evacuation plan in place? Supply kit? Information regarding this can be found at www.ready.gov
