Rockville's origins date back to Colonial America.  It has grown from a population of 200 in 1800 to a current population of over 65,000 residents.  It has become a cosmopolitan city of many neighborhoods.  It is a center for national biomed corporations, the federal and county governments.  Over 90% of the workforce is in white collar jobs.  There are many people living here who work in management, administrative, the arts, science and computer science and math.  It has a noticeable amount of young, single, educated and upwardly mobile career starters according to NeighborhoodScout.  It is an ethnically-diverse city with a median household income just under $100,000.  The fairly new Town Square is pedestrian friendly and anchors the part of Rockville Pike (The "Pike") with a "shop until you drop" vibe with a variety of centers complete with boutiques, specialty stores and restaurants.  Rockville City is the seat of Montgomery County Government.
