Chevy Chase roots harkens back to a 1725 land grant for the area called "Cheivy Chace" (along the border of England and Scotland). Chevy Chase Land Co. established the residential neighborhood in the 1890'S and banned all commerce from the neighborhoods. A lot has changed since the early days and it is now a collection of small towns and unincorporated neighborhoods. It has beautiful pricey homes, top rated schools, charm and a sense of community. It has a mix of historic homes and luxury condominiums. In 2011 The Business Journals rated it #1 on its list of smartest communities and the Business Insider website in 2014 said Chevy Chase was #1 of the 25 wealthiest suburbs in America.
